Terre Margaritelli” winery

Since 1870, the Margaritelli family has tied its name and history to the lush nature which makes this land unique: a region with a natural and artistic heritage, with a rich tradition of sacred mysticism.

The Margaritelli people have a deep passion and creative fantasy which, for decades, has distinguished them from the others. From their desire to imbue their products with the qualities of the earth comes a profoundly authentic brand: Terre Margaritelli or the land of Margaritelli.

In the heart of Umbria, between Assisi and Perugia, the estate and its land spread over 128 acres of an organic vineyard on a spectacular hill in Miralduolo. Seventy-four acres of the vineyard are dedicated to the regular production and sale of wines, while the remaining acreage has been designated to the experimental vineyard.

As many as 15 grape varieties are grown on the vineyard. The eight white grape varietals are Trebbiano, Grechetto, and Chardonnay with Traminer, Pecorino, Fiano, Semillon, and Viognier in the experimental vineyard. The seven red grape varietals are Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot in the experimental vineyard.

To date, the estate has produced 120,000 bottles of wine, all made in French oak barriques. All of the French oak comes from the forest of Bertrange, which provides a very delicate taste but never overtakes the primary flavor of the grape.
