"Torre Fornello" Winery
Torre Fornello is an emerging reality deeply rooted in ancient times and with a long history. Our focus is on innovation and we are dedicated to enhancing local wines and giving them an international touch. In 1998 Enrico Sgorbati started the restoration of the ancient medieval 15th century village, and added a modern vinification cellar equipped with state-of-the art technology. Wines ageing takes place in barrels located in the 17th century cellar. The Torre Fornello vineyards have been cultivated since 1600. Only the grapes harvested in our own vineyards are processed in Torre Fornello.
The vinery covers 60 hectares of vineyards where mainly local grape varieties are cultivated: Barbera, Croatina (Bonarda), Malvasia Candiae Aromatica, Ortrugo and some other international grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero, Pinot Gris. Torre Fornello specializes in still and sparkling wines (frizzante and spumante) and autochthonous white and red wines, and has devoted 13 out of 60 hectares to the production of organic grapes. Every year 300,000 bottles of d.o.c. wine are produced; all of them are shipped to high-quality national and international restaurants and wine shops.
